What other facility information do I need to be aware of before dining at ODC?

Reservations are encouraged for parties of 5 or more, especially on weekends. We have a 40 seat cafe, so making a reservation is required on weekends for large groups.

Flatware:  We have plastic flatware with napkins along with salt and pepper that is pre packaged and are self contained; we encourage those with anaphylaxis to use them.  Unless there is a shell fish allergy; there is iodized salt and pepper in with the plastic flatware, please ask us for separate utensils if there is an allergy to either of those.  We also have regular utensils which are washed and sanitized twice in our dishwasher.

Table Tops:  Our table tops are glass with a table cloth below it and we sanitize the glass after each customer.  We make every effort to wipe down the chairs as well.  However, for those with anaphylactic allergies to Milk or Casein, when we are busy, please wait for your table to be sanitized or ask for your table top and chairs to be sanitized.  If you require a fresh table cloth due to severe allergies, please let us know.

Serving Trays:  Please help us; so that we can help you.  We have a love affair with colored plastic cafeteria trays because  they really add another layer of safety to our operations!  Blue and Green Cafeteria Trays are used as a safety measure because we strive to keep everyone safe! Please keep your food on your green or blue tray that it is served on.  Every tray goes through our dishwasher and our sanitizer after each use.  Keeping your food on your color coded tray greatly reduces the risk of cross contamination/contact and also helps adults and children identify who they can safely interact with. Many times children get so excited to see other children with allergies that they forget that each person may have different allergies. 

If you have a Milk Allergy your food must come out on a Blue Tray!

**Please remember this: Green Trays contain Milk products!

Blue trays have food that is Free of milk, butter and dairy products, these people often have anaphylactic allergies!  Often the person eating from a blue tray has a severe and life threatening allergy to milk and dairy and many times they can react just from contact with a person who touched milk or dairy products and that can happen from someone else’s hands or just from something that they handled!  Parent; please keep your children in check and don’t let them run loose in the café. Thanks it is all about safety.

Paper and Crayons: We have activity sheets and blank paper in pockets on the wall next to our bulletin board along with crayons. Also, we have individually packaged crayons for those children with anaphylactic allergies to milk or to something that we have in the café; like mustard or pea protein; please ask for fresh crayons. Others may use the bulk crayons in bins on the wall.

Restrooms: We have Cetaphil hypoallergenic soap in addition to regular Dial hand soap available in the restrooms. Please help your child wash their hands before interacting with other children.  Disposable Paper towels are the best option to keep everyone safe.

Lending Library: We have lots of books and information that you can read while you are in the Café about Celiac Disease, Gluten Sensitivity, Irritable Bowel, Autism, ADHD, Food Allergies, EOE, etc. Please make sure you have clean hands prior to handling books and other reading material.

 

 Tipping:  Effective 06/2015; all tips, after our expenses have been met, will be split equally and donated to:

  • Center for Celiac Research (CFCR)

  • Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE)

  • Talk About Curing Autism (TACA)

** Sometimes for special events, tips are donated to other similar local organizations or causes.

We are always closed on the following days:
New Years Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

We close early on the following days:
Halloween, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve & New Years Eve
